Do you remember, as a child, hearing the adults always saying to each other’ “Gosh, I can’t believe how time is just flying by”? Now I am an adult and I find myself saying that all the time. The problem is, we have a tendency to pack as much as possible into a day that before you can catch your breath the day is gone. It feels like just the other day I was making plans about what to do with the coming 365 days, all shiny and new, pristine and untouched. I diligently set about creating my goals, set my intentions and created my first to-do list of the year. Then I woke up one morning and found myself almost at the halfway point of the year – 169 of those 365 days gone. What the hell happened?
What happened was 169 days of ups and downs, joy and sorrow, frustration and excitement and crazy busy days. Between brutal work and writing schedules, fitting family time in, down time and girl time, the days whizzed by until I found myself at this point.
But you know what? I don’t regret a thing. I have spent some really wonderful days enjoying outings with my loved ones or carving out a precious few hours to just veg on the couch with popcorn and binge watch a favourite series with them; I’ve shared some amazing experiences with my girlfriends and writing community; I’ve entered a competition that had me writing like a dervish to get my first ever full length novel written; and I now have a completed manuscript to show for my pain. LOL! I’ve made memories.
I have no idea what the second half of 2018 will bring, but I have no doubt it will be exciting!
If you’re keen to share, I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to so far this year.
